Mending Of Mothers is proud to announce its expansion into Richmond, California, marking the successful launch of our first Bay Area Job Readiness Cohort in partnership with the Richmond Museum of History & Culture and with generous sponsorship from Golden 1 Credit Union.
This milestone cohort introduced The Art of Opportunity, a one-of-a-kind hybrid program that unites our two signature initiatives — Strength to Succeed: Job Readiness and Art Therapy — into a single, powerful experience. Held at the Richmond Museum of History & Culture, the program combined practical career skill-building with the emotional and creative benefits of art and culture, giving participants space to invest in their futures while building confidence in a supportive environment.
Participants received hands-on support in resume development, interview preparation, job search strategies, workplace readiness, and career exploration and goal-setting — all paired with lunch and a welcoming, creative space designed to nurture both professional and personal growth.
Golden 1 Credit Union's sponsorship was instrumental in bringing this vision to life, reflecting their continued commitment to empowering job seekers and strengthening communities through workforce development.
Their support, alongside the expertise of JMW Career Consultants and the welcoming partnership of the Richmond Museum of History & Culture, helped create meaningful pathways to employment for Bay Area job seekers.
"This collaboration is creating pathways to employment and brighter futures," said Carol Jones (Executive Director, Mending of Mothers). "We are so grateful for the partnership and shared commitment to strengthening our communities through workforce development."
This expansion into Richmond represents just the beginning of Mending of Mothers' growth throughout the Bay Area. We look forward to building on this success with future cohorts, deepening our community partnerships, and continuing to create spaces where career readiness and creative healing go hand in hand.
Thank you to Golden 1 Credit Union, JMW Career Consultants, and the Richmond Museum of History & Culture for helping make this vision a reality.
Mending Of Mothers was proud to join as a presenting partner of the 3rd Annual L For Lupus Toy Drive & Giveaway. Covered in holiday cheer, this impactful event was a powerful reminder of what community looks like when we come together with purpose. In partnership with an incredible network of local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and dedicated volunteers, the event successfully supported over 150 registered families, providing joy, resources, and meaningful connection during the holiday season.
Thanks to overwhelming community support, more than 500 toys were distributed, and families enjoyed a full festive experience featuring a photobooth, DJ, live music, hot cocoa and cookies, an open bar, free haircuts and hairstyling, and access to valuable nonprofit resources.
The generosity extended across the region, with 14 Golden 1 Credit Union locations sponsoring donation drop boxes, alongside many other community businesses that stepped up to give back.
This event wasn’t just about toys—it was about creating moments, spreading hope, and uplifting families through collective compassion and collaboration.
We hope you'll join us in 2026!
